I left a link on the Forum to see if you'd respond. It appears that the "Bell" (along with a lot of stuff here on FB) is malfunctioning. Something is really amiss @Feedbands - just have to wait to see how things shake out. Manolain and Aunt Cynthias Cabin are the last 2 lps.  The more I've listened to Manolain the more I like it, had no real opinion when submitted - Aunt Cynthias Cabin was a favorite already and I'm glad they got pressed.  So much for the CHART?   Have you checked out the Forum?  How's the new employment situation and what do you do?

I graduate with a Masters in Civil Engineering tomorrow but decided long ago it wasn't for me so at the moment, I'm driving trucks. The latest Feeedbands email was upsetting and completely out of the blue. What do you make of it, and where will you turn for your music?

    quizkid

    quizkid

Congratulations on earning your Masters. One hell of an accomplishment. As a former truck driver myself, I've often thought of going back.  I drove for 5 years out of high school for a road construction firm to put myself and my wife through university.  Except I had to do a hell of a lot of grunt work with it.  Here in the states semi drivers are getting paid damn good - $80,000/year.                                I've been expecting FeedBands to shutdown for quit a while.  I'm amazed it lasted this long.  If we have access to new submittals - I'll keep checking out the new music as I've found a shitload of stuff here that I bought on cd.  My buddy and I have been in FB from the start and we were talking a few weeks ago about how they should just go to being a semi-conventional record label.  Maybe they will now.  They could have quit a stable of artists - if the artists stick with them.  FB could also keep us involved in the selection process of artists by reviewing the music.

I'm definitely going to miss the regular new music. I guess I'll just have to put a bit more effort in now. The UK-based record subscriptions don't appeal to me in quite the same way as Feedbands does/did.

I just want access to any future releases by FeedBands to keep my collection intact. I have not checked into other lp subscription services.  I think I'm gonna wait to see if 8-tracks make a come back!!!  I just read this weekend that someone is producing Bluetooth cassette "Walkman" type devises.

Just went to my wall and saw your response about Cybernetic Witch Cult - The Bell ain't doin it's job. My guess is that a number of bands/artists probably forget about FeedBands - membership isn't that large - I know my kid doesn't pay any attention to it.  I think it's just another avenue for people to get their music out to "somebody" and hope for the best.  I've purchased a lot of music I've found here that I know will probably never get a FB pressing. >>> CWC - 50 people in attendance - what was the venue capacity?

    jamesstirling

    jamesstirling

Comfortably - Easily 100. Uncomfortably - At least twice that. What kind of venue is Sego playing?

they're playing The 7th Street Entry which is part of First Avenue in Minneapolis. It holds 250 - I'd call it a hole in the wall that up & coming bands play.  I like going to both.  It's on the corner of 7th Street & 1st Avenue downtown Minneapolis.  My kids band Gramma has played there 4 - 5 times

Speaking of The Chart: Here is my analysis of the Top 10 based upon MY up-votes +/down-votes - (I quit down voting a couple of years ago - I only up-vote) Kisnou 3/25+ / Sunsquabi 3/7 - / Civil Holdup 11/11 + / Raggy Monster 2/10+ 6/10 - / Brad Sucks 10/10+ / Magic City Hippies 4/6 - / Floozies 10/10 - / Fellow Caveman 8/8+ / Medusa Disco 8/9+ / Unaka Prong 8/9 -   <<<<<<<<<<< This is just my taste in music - if yours is contradictory - I don't mean to slam you - I know I like stuff that you and others probably hate & that's fine with me because there is plenty that we all can agree on.     ???  So could I be a jerk and down-vote an artists songs to take them down  on the Charts?

    jamesstirling

    jamesstirling

    Kisnou 0/25 - Sunsquabi 0/7 (but only because I didn't see the point in voting for an already-pressed band) - Civil Holdup 11/11 - Raggy Monster 0/10 - Brad Sucks 1/10 (as above) - Magic City Hippies 1/6 - Floozies 0/10 - Fellow Caveman 8/8 - Medusa's Disco 0/9 - Unaka Prong 1/9.

Sadly for me, my favourite bands are a bit lower on the charts. Additionally, I had not come across most of the top 10 before the site update, and haven't had a chance to catch up yet. Don't think there are any up there I'd be upset at getting

It's disappointing to see the vote totals on bands/artists I think are really good. Like yours - I also have favorites buried deep in the Chart.

    jamesstirling

    jamesstirling

I suspect that many of votes for the top albums are residuals from when Feedbands had 1000-1200 vinyl subscription members (compared with approx. 500 now based on Sea of Lettuce copies pressed) and that some of the votes are from now-dead accounts

Come on over - I'll show you the town and we can meet Spencer. Come before the end of the month and we can see Weezer with the Pixies or Bob Mould. I bought tickets for both shows - problem>> they're on the same night - decisions, decisions.  God I'm an idiot @ times!

Everything is different - Forum appears to have been deleted & New Submissions is all goofed up - appears not to be by date but music category - who looks @ submittals based upon type of music? Not me anyway cause I listen to all submittals . Go to HOW IT WORK for new explainations.  I haven't read it all yet.  What worries me is BitCoin!

    jamesstirling

    jamesstirling

Hopefully the little goofs are just teething problems for their new sites. I think the old submission list still exists through the link at the bottom of the page. The forum would be a big loss, I hope it's just under maintenance. Not sure what to make of the Bitcoin thing, I'll look into it

Some links are not working for me. The Recent Music Submissions that you ID'd now works as before!  I'm sure it'll take a bit to get used to.  I'd be nice if Feedbands would have a scheduled on-line confab to walk us through the new site and revisions to the program.  They could record it for those that can't attend on-live live (with ?'s).  Maybe we'd get to see the FedBand Great OZ!  The Charts are goofy also - maybe it's just me and my Neanderthal way of thinking.  I did attend public schools.

    jamesstirling

    jamesstirling

The chart makes for interesting viewing. Clearly there needs to be a way of viewing only those albums which have not yet been pressed (like there used to be). How does the chart reflect which albums you thought were the most popular? I knew Sea At Last would top the list.

The "Include artists that have been pressed?" function has returned but going through the list I can see some errors (e.g. Boombox has pressed Bits and Pieces themselves, Feedbands has not pressed Magnolian but it HAS pressed Benjamin). Another flaw seems to come from songs being uploaded individually. Dolbro Dan's songs are all singles so Folk Dope isn't listed as an album. Civil Holdup would be a good record for May though

I was writing down some notes for future Forum comments and what you noted was my 1st observation also. I just played the Civil Holdup album and it went from #2 to #1 when the 1st song kicked in.  They'll get it worked out - I hope

I quite liked having a chart for songs and not just albums. I may suggest it in the forum.

Both would not be bad. It would also be nice if when Bands/Artists were listed they would have a main genre associated with it - that way I could get an understanding of the classification system.

The new chart does surprise me in that I had to assess where an album stood by # fans & going to each song on an album and looking @ the individual likes of a song. So the new format does that for me. I was off on some albums but as I can't/don't follow all the artists - some snuck up on my analysis - due to other members taste in music - which is fine, I'm just 1 member - BUT FEEDBANDS - I want every other month an artist I support - OK!!!!   <>Back to the chart issue - I'm an album listener anyway and not into singles.... so my initial take is I like the change - but it was nice to see what song grabbed peoples attention from an album submission.  We should probably have this discussion on the Forum in order to make a potential contribution to the revised site.

James - Has the Daily Dose for the past week or so been repeating the same songs? What I'm seeing as the Daily Dose is confusing me as songs have run multiple days?.  I have had The following for the past 5-6 days:  Further From Truth (Darkness...) posted past 2 days / Teen Girls / IKWE (USSR) post for 2 or 3 days????

Unfortunately my work took me away from Feedbands for most of the week so I couldn't say for sure. Never mind that though, where has the forum gone??

What titles are you looking at?

    jamesstirling

    jamesstirling

Smooth Hound Smith or Be Calm Honcho. Both of those are "Sold Out" but I've found that doesn't always mean what it says. If it does in this case, A Shelter in the Desert.

    quizkid

any others that are not sold out?

That's it for now. I tend to listen them month-to-month if I need a replacement for the record that's being offered.
